Biography
Ekkehard Wlaschiha (born May 28, 1938) is a German operatic baritone who specializes in Wagnerian villians of the "howling-and-spitting" type, such as Alberich, Klingsor, Friedrich von Telramund, Don Pizarro, and Kaspar. Recordings are available of all these roles.
He was born in Pirna, Germany and studied music at the Musikhochschule in Weimar.
He can be seen on video as Alberich (PBS broadcast of The Ring Cycle from the Met) and as Telramund (conducted by Peter Schneider, with sets and costumes by filmmaker Werner Herzog).
